August 16th, 2014 - Int Dogshow in Oslo, Norway
Our lovely brindle girl Madame aka
Grand Royal's Famous Madame Royale, was showed under American judge
Diane T Anderson at the Int dog show in Oslo, Norway, today and was
3rd best open class female with
CK (best brindle open class female). She was though unplaced in Best Bitch Competition class in very hard competition from 11 other females, so we are pretty pleased with the result anyway.
Unfortenately I also found out today that yet two dogs, who lived in Norway, from our very first litter of Great Danes back in 2009 also has died from
bloat and the last one, that died last year, was after her death opened by the vet and the owner found out that the ligaments around her stomach was very very bad, so bad that the vet had never seen anything like it before.
I stopped however the breeding of this bloodline directly when our own bitch from this litter, just before 2 years of age, first got a
complete bloat and a couple of months later died from
dilated small intestine.
I know, however, that any further breeding will not take place at the bitch who's still alive (living in Sweden) since she suffer from
hypothyroidism instead. She is, however, now medicated and well.
I'm very sorry for what's happened to this whole litter (even the male who lives in Sweden had a complete bloat around 2 years of age), but also glad that those who are still alive are doing well and I'm even happier that
I didn't continued on this bloodline.
Mother of the litter was our Siri (
you can read about her at our page "Angels")
who died from a big tumor on her liver just before her 8th birthday. She had, however, had two litters before our litter where it has, to my knowledge, not been any problems like this or any similar problems. Dad was a male who's pedigree name is simply Pelle. Unfortunately, he has been bred more than once and even his full sister has been bred, so we hope that their offsprings are/will be spared from similar problems.
