August 16th, 2014 - Int Dogshow in Oslo, Norway

Our lovely brindle girl Madame aka Grand Royal's Famous Madame Royale, was showed under American judge Diane T Anderson at the Int dog show in Oslo, Norway, today and was 3rd best open class female with CK (best brindle open class female). She was though unplaced in Best Bitch Competition class in very hard competition from 11 other females, so we are pretty pleased with the result anyway.

Unfortenately I also found out today that yet two dogs, who lived in Norway, from our very first litter of Great Danes back in 2009 also has died from bloat and the last one, that died last year, was after her death opened by the vet and the owner found out that the ligaments around her stomach was very very bad, so bad that the vet had never seen anything like it before.

I stopped however the breeding of this bloodline directly when our own bitch from this litter, just before 2 years of age, first got a complete bloat and a couple of months later died from dilated small intestine.

I know, however, that any further breeding will not take place at the bitch who's still alive (living in Sweden) since she suffer from hypothyroidism instead. She is, however, now medicated and well.

I'm very sorry for what's happened to this whole litter (even the male who lives in Sweden had a complete bloat around 2 years of age), but also glad that those who are still alive are doing well and I'm even happier that I didn't continued on this bloodline.

Mother of the litter was our Siri (you can read about her at our page "Angels") who died from a big tumor on her liver just before her 8th birthday. She had, however, had two litters before our litter where it has, to my knowledge, not been any problems like this or any similar problems. Dad was a male who's pedigree name is simply Pelle. Unfortunately, he has been bred more than once and even his full sister has been bred, so we hope that their offsprings are/will be spared from similar problems.

August 8th, 2014 - World Dog Show 2014 in Helsinki, Finland

To the WDS in Finland we had three junior Danes from our G-litter participating ... Junior aka Grand Royal's Guardian Crusader, Lukaz aka Grand Royal's Golden Monte Cassino and Doris aka Grand Royal's Glorious Edelweizz. Unfortenately it was a bit hard to see any red line in the males judge judging, Andrew Brace from Great Britain, and both Lukaz and Junior ended up with very good (only 6 out of 13 was awarded excellent) but Doris got her well deserved excellent under judge Damir Skok from Croatia even if she was unplaced in very hard competition in the junior females class.

We had a fabolous weekend in Finland though and met a lot of dear friends. Thank you all (you know who you are) for your great hospitality and for giving us Swedes a weekend to remember!! And, off course - BIG CONGRATS to kennel Euro Power for taking the JWW-14 title as well as being BOB and best breeders group!!!

May 10th, 2014 ~ Nat. Dogshow Lidköping/Sweden

We had a hectic, but fun & joyfull, day at the national dogshow in Lidköping today when showing 4 dogs, (only 18 entered in total) under Swedish judge Jan Herngren.

Grand Royal's Guardian Crusader aka Junior entered his very first official show in junior class and was awarded excellent and put up as 2nd best junior male. He was the youngest in his class and thought this whole thing was kinda scary, so he didn't really show off, but the judge liked him a lot and told us he would have wanted him as class winner if he only had moved properly. Well, well ... with some more training it will go better next time.

Grand Royal's Frantic Voltaire aka Akilles also entered his very first official show today and was showed in intermediate class. He was awarded excellent and was class winner with great qritique from the judge. Not more than 2 males were awarded with CK though and Akilles didn't get any, but what a way to start the show carréer!

Grand Royal's Glorious Edelweizz aka Doris entered her 3rd official show in junior class today and did it great! First of all she was awarded excellent with CK, (only 2 more females got CK & they were in the open class), and was placed as junior class winner and then put up as Best Bitch 2 with reserve-CAC. Way to go!!!

Euro Power Funky Lady aka Delta entered the open class for the first time today on her 2nd birthday. She wasn't though in the mood for showing off and got a very good from the judge even though she was placed as 4th best open class female.

All four dogs that was showed today was handled by me. Pictures taken by Sofie Morin.

If everything goes as it should, Destiny will be mated to another F-litter boy, our Akilles - Grand Royal's Frantic Voltaire - this spring. Puppies are expected to due in the beginning of May and that will be our H-litter with, hopefully, both fawn and brindle babies.

January 4th, 2014 ~ MyDog Int, Gothenburg/Sweden, day 2

Today at the MyDog Int. show we took revenge for yesterdays placings when Doris aka Grand Royal's Glorious Edelweizz was best female pup with HP (Honor Price) and then became BOB Puppy under Swedish judge Kenneth Edh. He made Doris dad, Diego, Swedish Champion last year ... and brother Windsor aka Grand Royal's Gentry Windsor, 2nd best male puppy with HP (Honor price) today at his very first show. Both of them handled by me.

Windsor has been for sale for a while now, but I'm actually not sure he is anymore ... but IF he is, it must be on breeding terms with a owner that will assure to show him - otherwise he will stay here, cause he has really good potential.

Windsors critique from the judge was:
Nice proportions and maskuline head with a bit marked cheeks. Nice lip, sound eyes. Nice neck and topline. Nice croup. Well angulated with nice bones, body and fore chest. Nice coat and mask. Still a bit loose in the front when moving with a little bit high leg lifts.

Doris critique from the judge was:
Nice proportions och good size. Dark eyes. Nice lip line. Nice stop. Nice neck. Nice topline and croup. Nice angulations, bones, body and fore chest. Nice coat and mask. Moves with good stride. Still a bit loose in the front. BEST PUPPY.

If that wasn't enough Doris also ended up as top 12, out of 43 pup's, in the finals. Way to go!! Big congrats to loving owners Therese & Daniel Wilin. What a way to end the puppy period!! In just 2 days Doris and her sibblings will be 9 months old and juniors.

January 3rd, 2014 ~ MyDog Int, Gothenburg/Sweden, day 1

The first show for this year has started!

Under Swedish judge Annika Ulltveit-Moe I showed Junior aka Grand Royal's Guardian Crusader in Puppy Class and he thought the whole thing was a bit scary today. Maybe it was because he hurt a nail pretty bad on the way from the car so he was bleeding a lot(?). Well Delta aka Euro Power Funky Lady was showed in Intermediate Class for the first time. She got an excellent from the judge and they both were placed as 2nd in their classes. It's not my style to blame anything or anyone for bad placings, but unfortenately my intention when I entered the dogs was to show Windsor on day one and Delta and Junior on day two of the show since day two is Crufts qualifying - but for some reason I turned it arround when making the entry online ... well, well.

Doris aka Grand Royal's Glorious Edelweizz and her family also joined us this weekend and Doris was also placed as 2nd best in the Females Puppy Class. She also thought the environment was kinda scary and that was the reason for her placing. Both Doris and Junior will turn 9 months in just a few days. Junior and Deltas critique's from the judge can be found at their own sites here. Doris critique from the judge was:

9 months. Well shaped head, nice eyes, a bit airy ears. Nice silhuette. Just enough matured in legs, feets and muscles. Gives a nice picture when stacked. Don't really like the environment.
